Gemini API pricing, per million tokens.

Google prices the Gemini API per million tokens on the paid tier, with an input rate, a cached-input rate, an output rate and a 50% batch discount. Context caching is billed as storage per hour rather than a per-token write. The table is the full current list from Google's pricing page, followed by what three real workloads cost on each model.

Every current Gemini model

Paid tier, text input. Context caching bills storage per hour instead of a per-token write. Batch is 50% off. Pro models bill prompts over 200k tokens at 2x input and 1.5x output. Gemini 4 Argon list price doubles on 1 December 2026; the 3.6 and 3.8 Flash introductory prices end 1 January 2027. Source: ai.google.dev →

USD per 1,000,000 tokens, standard tier. A dash under cached input means the model has no cached rate and bills every input token at the input price. Cheapest current model by list price: Gemini 3.1 Flash-Lite at $0.25 input and $1.5 output.

What a month costs on each model

List prices are hard to feel per million. These are three monthly workloads, priced on the models above at the standard tier, with the batch discount applied only where the workload is asynchronous. Retries, tool-call loops and prompt growth are not in these numbers, which is why estimates and invoices disagree.

  • Support chatbot: 2,000 input and 400 output tokens a turn, 50,000 turns a month.
  • Tool-using agent: 12,000 input and 1,500 output tokens a run, 15,000 runs a month.
  • Overnight classification: 800 input and 50 output tokens an item, 1,000,000 items a month, through the batch API where the provider offers one.

What prompt caching does to the bill

Take the tool-using agent above on Gemini 3.8 Flash. Its 180,000,000 input tokens a month cost $135 at the input rate. If 80% of those tokens are a repeated prefix (system prompt, tool definitions, a shared document) served from the cache at $0.075, the input line falls to $37.80, a 72% saving before output tokens. Google does not charge a per-token cache write. Instead, cached context is billed as storage per million tokens per hour while it stays warm, so the saving depends on how long you keep a prefix alive and how often you read it in that window.

What to know about Gemini pricing

Two scheduled price rises are already published.

Gemini 4 Argon doubles to $4 input and $20 output on 1 December 2026. The introductory $0.75 / $3.75 prices on Gemini 3.6 Flash and 3.8 Flash end on 1 January 2027, when both move to $1.50 / $7.50. Budgets built on today's rates for those models are wrong by January.

Pro models double over 200k tokens.

Gemini 3.1 Pro Preview and 2.5 Pro bill prompts over 200,000 tokens at 2x input and 1.5x output. The million-token context is real, but filling it is priced accordingly.

The free tier is not on this page.

Google offers a free tier with rate limits and data used for product improvement. Every price here is the paid tier, where your prompts are not used for training. Gemini 4 Argon is not available on the free tier at all.

Batch is 50% off.

Asynchronous batch requests pay half on input and output across the current models, the same discount OpenAI and Anthropic offer.

Legacy and retired Gemini models

Still priced because code still names them. A legacy model is available but superseded; a retired one no longer runs on this provider's API, though several remain on cloud marketplaces at the rate shown.

Gemini against OpenAI, Claude and Gemini

The same three roles on each provider, input and output per million tokens. Tier for tier is the only fair comparison; a budget model on one provider against a flagship on another tells you nothing.

Questions about Gemini pricing

How much does the Gemini API cost?

Current Gemini models range from $0.3 input and $2.5 output per million tokens on Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite to $2 input and $12 output on Gemini 3.1 Pro Preview. Gemini 3.8 Flash is $0.75 input and $3.75 output at its introductory price. Cached input is 0.1x and batch is 50% off.

Is the Gemini API free?

There is a free tier with rate limits, and Google may use free-tier prompts to improve its products. Production use is on the paid tier, which is what this page prices. Gemini 4 Argon has no free tier.

How much does Gemini context caching save?

On Gemini 3.8 Flash, a prompt that is 80% cached input costs 72% less in input tokens than the same prompt uncached ($135 against $37.80 a month on the worked agent example below), before the hourly storage charge for keeping the cache warm.

Is Gemini cheaper than GPT or Claude?

Tier for tier, Gemini has been the lowest list price of the three for most of 2026: Gemini 3.1 Pro Preview undercuts both Claude Opus 5.5 and GPT-5.5 on input, and Flash-Lite is the cheapest current model on this site. The scheduled rises on 1 December and 1 January narrow that gap; the cross-provider table on this page shows the current position.

Do Gemini thinking tokens cost extra?

Thinking tokens bill as output at the model's output rate. They are reported in the usage metadata of each response and need to be included in any per-call cost.

These are the rates. Agent Ping applies them to every real run your agents make, by agent, customer and feature, and pages you when one of them spikes. It prices Gemini calls from this same table.
